York Atos Protest – Fri 13th May
April 16, 2011
York Welfare Campaign Group has organised a protest/photo op/leafletting session for Friday 13th May as part of a UK-wide week of action against Atos Origin, a company contracted to carry out the government’s “work capability assessments”.
In York, we will be leafletting from 8am-9am, meeting outside Banana Warehouse on Piccadilly (round the corner from the Atos offices), followed by a photo op with the Press.
Anyone interested please come along, and if you’d like to get involved with the group please contact us at yorkwelfarecampaign@gmail.com. Our next meeting is Tuesday 17th May, meeting at 7:30pm at the Black Swan on Peasholme Green.

Hiya Welfare Campaign in York, To have an affect against Atos, the protest will need to be persistant and on going. Though not as disabled as some of the folks I’ve seen.., I am Ibs-C disabled with severe symptoms,+ serious mental issues.esp in t winter, when I cant get out at all. IBS,spastic colon and everything to do with digestion. Yes I am too a failed claimant who has had his benefits stopped.,Having no choice but to go through the appeal process..: As I am during t warm weather a little more able to get into York after 13:00 hrs… and be part of any future demos, that may be on. I will send an e-mail via my mailbox. My parents didn’t fight ww2 ,for obnoxious groups like Atos to appear on the scene-on t streets of UK. at 55 , I feel I have nothing to lose but to fight, keep tabs with the Guardian reporter ,and to put an end to this form of government..,people have topped themselves over this one and I am one angry disabled artist person >:-( many rgds Ben
