London Confirmed: Party and Picnic in Triton Square

January 8, 2011

Come to a picnic and party in Triton Square, London on the 24th January 2011 from 2pm as part of the National Day of Protest Against Benefit Cuts.

Bring music, drums, whistles, banners, food to share and let’s brighten up the faceless corporate wasteland that is home to poverty pimps Atos Origin Ltd.

Musicians, poets, orators, ranters, shouters, all benefit claimants and supporters welcome. Please help spread the word and invite your friends.

Triton Square is on the North side of Euston Road, a minute or so from Warren Street tube and less than five minutes from Euston/Euston Square or Great Portland Street tube stations.

Part of the National Day of Protest Against Benefit Cuts on the 24th January 2011.

I doubt very much that this will receive any attention in the press…

Unless you propose to have some form of civil disobedience / sit-in of disabled claimants, or a huge rally through central London, then I’m afraid this picnic will be a waste of time.

PLEASE !!! London does not have the monoply on carers and disabled people – a little planning would have been advisable – name places for people to gather outside London – carers can seldom travel BECAUSE they are carers .Once again I ask – is there a venue and time for meeting to protest in North Wales.
NO I CAN`T ORGANISE ONE – MY HUSBAND IS TERMINALLY ILL AND I AM NURSING HIM AT HOME – pity a little more thought was not given to the planning stage

Point taken, but at least those of us who are in London can attend…and I think similar actions are being organised nationally….

I tried to get things organised in stoke and crewe, for 3 whole weeks to put it on facebook, and asked people at local disability networks, but no one came on board at all..i dont know if its through fear, or through a sense of disempowerment, or a feeling of hopelessness…i want to protest, but alone and disabled is no good, itd give security carte blanche to grab me and drag me out of the place minus witnesses….strenght in numbers remember…
