Atos Origin Protests Begin – London, Edinburgh, Nottingham, Hastings – Reports So Far …

Around 70 disabled people, claimants and supporters gathered outside Atos Origin’s London headquarters in Triton Square yesterday to protest at their involvement with their involvement with the Work Capability Assessment. Reports and pics from the day can be found at:

A second picket is planned outside the Archway Testing Centre on Thursday.

The protest was part of the ongoing National Week of Action Against Atos Origin with demonstration taking place around the UK.

Nottingham Anarchist Federation also held a picket of Atos yesterday, along with employment agency Office Angels who have been accused of mistreating temporary workers: http://nottingham.indymedia.org.uk/articles/1755

The second demonstration in a month took place in Edinburgh, with supporters of Black Triangle Anti-defamation Campaign and Edinburgh Coalition Against Poverty staging a noisy protest outside Atos Origin’s in Edinburgh: http://local.stv.tv/edinburgh-west/news/17274-demonstrators-gather-outside-disability-testing-centre-calling-for-changes-in-assessment-system/

A successful protest was also held in Hastings: “Picket and protest outside Atos branch in Hastings went off today. 25 members of Hastings Against The Cuts and Hastings and Rother Disabled People Against Cuts turned up to leaflet, protest and make a lot of noise. We’re considering turning this into a weekly event. “
