Action Against Atos Healthcare, Cambridge: Friday 10th June

June 9, 2011

When: Friday 10 June 2011, 4:00pm

Where: ATOS Origin, 24 Hills Road, opposite St. Paul’s Church, Cambridge

The next weekly demo against these profiteers…
ATOS is a private European company hired by this Government to cut the Welfare Benefits by 20%. Most of these cuts have been aimed at the chronically sick and disabled. 40% of people seen by ATOS have had their benefits cut and had to go to appeal. 70% of these decisions were overturned on appeal. That means that ATOS are making mistakes and denying benefits to the sick and disabled. Some people do not have the wherewithal or the strength to fight these decisions and are left destitute and starving. We ask you to come down and support the chronically ill and disabled by highlighting this company’s greed, and lack of humanity towards the most vulnerable in our society. This situation will only get worse as the government are cutting legal aid. This means that those taken off of benefit, by mistakes made by ATOS, will not be able to appeal against these decisions. I shall be there as I have been affected by their wrong decision making. By the way, I later won my appeal; only for the Jobcentre, on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions, to send me three months after it the next questionnaire with which the whole process will start all over. This is for somebody whose many health problems will only will get worse in future. It is high time that as many as possible of us go to court against this state that creates increasingly more injustice for the people who need help. I am certainly and seriously contemplating to go to court myself.
