Manchester Protest Against Atos Origin – 22/6

June 9, 2011

Wednesday, June 22 · 12:00pm – 3:00pm
Albert Bridge House, Manchester

* Protest against attacks on welfare and benefits *

Atos Origin have just begun a £300 million contract by the ConDem Government to carry out ‘work capability assessments’ on all of those claiming Incapacity Benefit. The real purpose is to strip benefits from as many people as possible. We believe we should not allow these attacks to go unchallenged in the Manchester area.

We call on activists from across the movement – disability activists, benefit claimants, unemployed workers, anti-cuts activists and trade unionists – to protest against these attacks – WE WILL NOT PAY FOR THEIR CRISIS!

I think this whole welfare fiasco has gone on long enough and that as well as targetting ATOS..we should be picketing the BBC offices to draw attention to this governments ‘obscene’ plans. I say this having just read a harrowing account of one deceased guys treatment at the hands of ATOS as told by his sister in The Guardian today. (2nd posting down the list by Claire Debenham)

ATOS make Joseph Mengele look positively humane..even his ‘experiments’ didn’t cause such lengthy despair and distress

As for Steve Cram…there were numerous postings gettin through to his Facebook page..but all my own attempts to elicit a ‘response’ from him..appear to have been deleted, and either his FB page disabled..or more likely he or his agents have disallowed me further access to his page. My onetime admiration for this man has been shattered in totla disillusionment. He really is a total scumbag and I think the Olymics committee should now be bombarded with details of his nefarious shenanigans alon with a request he be stripped of any broadcasting rights at The Games in 2012 (I’ve already requested as much from the Guardian with whom he has lucrative writing asignments) He truly is unfit to represent the ‘face’ of disabled sportsmen and women. Shame on him!
